Conor Benn vs Chris Eubank Jr face-off CANCELLED after egg slap

Chris Eubank Jr's planned face off with British rival Conor Benn later today has been CANCELLED due to security concerns.
It comes after the pair went nose-to-nose in Manchester on Tuesday night. The two stars traded verbal jabs during the press conference, but things got out of hand after Eubank Jr slapped Benn with an egg. They were immediately separated by security as the latter attempted to get to his opponent after the incident.
Benn later took to social media to say: "That’s the only shot you’ll land on me you f****** p****. Two rounds you are finished." Even the promoters were caught in the chaos after footage showed Eddie Hearn shoving Ben Shalom. The British boxing rivals are due to meet again tomorrow in London for yet another press conference.
However, they were due to face off today, but that has since been scrapped, according to Ring Magazine. "Today’s scheduled face off between Chris Eubank Jr and Conor Benn has been cancelled due to security concerns, tomorrow’s press conference still goes ahead as planned with additional security," the post reads.
It is expected that the two stars will be sat down with broadcasters in a bid to avoid any issues. Both Benn and Eubank Jr will reignite their feud in London on April 26. Their initial dust-up in 2022 was cancelled due to Benn failing a voluntary drug test on fight week. However, his suspension was lifted back in November. The bout will be held at the middleweight limit of 160lb with both fighters required to add no more than 10lb by the Saturday morning.
Eubank Jr's stunt last night was in reference to Benn's claim that his alleged failed drug tests were due to consumption of eggs - which he brought up to mock his rival on stage during the press conference. The 35-year-old targeted his rival's promoter, Hearn, during the feisty encounter, refusing to let him speak as he opened the proceedings by introducing the fight.
He said: "Eddie, you know I don’t like you, right? So if you know that, what on God’s sweet earth makes you think I’m gonna listen to anything you have to say? We’re gonna skip past whatever bulls*** you were going to say. You can sabotage the event, and I’ll just start talking to Benn directly."
In an interview with Sky Sports after the press conference, Hearn claimed anything now goes following the chaotic and wild scenes in Manchester. "He came on stage with an egg. I thought it was glass. The noise and the way it shattered was like a glass. We don’t know what’s happened. All I’m saying now, all bets are off. If you bump into Nigel Benn in the next 10 minutes, watch yourself," he said.
"The thing is with Eubank is that everything is pre-mediated. He’s sat there at night and thought 'I’m going to hit him round the face with an egg'. Some might find it funny. Imagine you in a head to head right now, the police would be looking for you. The game is the game, the fight is the fight. All bets are off. Anything goes. You’ve gone to that level. Thursday at Spurs. It’s on sight."
Eubank Jr's promoter Ben Shalom claimed he didn't know what his star client had been planning, saying: "Honestly I don't know what happened. It was an egg, we can see it was an egg, but I didn't know what it was at the time. I was in shock at the time like everyone else. It kicked of there... it was a great press conference up till then but I think that was too far."
