Éire Óg Ennis booked their place into the Clare senior hurling championship final thanks to a 1-14 to 1-12 win against Kilmaley at Cusack Park this afternoon.

David McNamara’s goal inside three minutes looked to set the tone for the victors as they held the lead until the 22nd minute when Mikey O’Malley’s free tied up matters for Kilmaley.

Another O’Malley free would see his team edging a 0-7 to 1-3 half-time lead in Ennis ahead of Darren O’Brien and McNamara raising white flags early in the second-half which had Éire Óg back in front.

O’Brien, Oran Cahill and Aaron Fitzgerald sailed over points which had the scoreboard reading 1-11 to 0-10 in Gerry O'Connor's side’s favour midway through the second-half.

O’Malley’s frees kept Kilmaley right within touching distance and they’d hit the front with eight minutes to go when Sean O’Loughlin set-up Conor Cleary for the net.

The closing stages saw Danny Russell coming up big under pressure for Éire Óg however, firing over two frees and a ‘65’ to ice the win for his side.

The Townies now await the winners of tomorrow’s semi-final between Ballyea and Clooney Quin 3.30) in next month’s county final.
