Tyrone produce second-half goods to see off Cavan for 26th Ulster MFC crown

Tyrone are Ulster minor football champions for the first time in three years thanks to a 2-11 to 1-8 win over Cavan at Brewster Park this evening.
The Red Hands grabbed both of their goals in the second-half through Cathal Farley and ‘Man of the Match’ Joel Kerr as they came from behind at half to land their county’s 26th provincial title in the grade.
Gerard Donnelly’s team made a fantastic start in Enniskillen, sailing over the first four points via James Mulgrew, Thomas Meenan, Peter Colton and Eoin Long before Cavan responded with a Faolan Graham free.

The margin would be out to four again before the Breffni County shot a John Donohoe and saw a Nathan Quigley free backed up by Graham shooting over from outside the arc, tying the decider up at 0-7 apiece by the 23rd minute.
Mulgrew nudged Tyrone ahead again but a Quigley on the stroke of half-time ensured that it was Ed O’Hanlon’s side that went in with a 1-7 to 0-8 advantage at the interval.
The would-be winners made the best possible start to the second-half with Farley’s goal and, while Cavan got level again through Quigley’s free, a coolly taken Kerr goal knocked the stuffing out of them and points from Eoin Long and Kerr (2, 1free) would seal the sweet success for Tyrone.
