USA bombed Iran | Iran-Israel war: Expect anything
The uranium enrichment complex in the Iranian city of Isfahan.

The equation seemed easy to solve. There's the Iranian regime, which is said to be on the verge of gaining access to nuclear weapons. And there are US President Donald Trump and Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who want to prevent this by military means. Diplomacy was pointless, they now say: Far too often, negotiations have been held only to find that Tehran simply continues. Now, action has been taken: bombs on nuclear facilities.

A new problem: Now the ball is in the Revolutionary Guard's court. And they still have a few tools at their disposal that could cause serious damage, to the entire world: A few sea mines are enough to block the Strait of Hormuz, which, after all, runs partly through Iranian waters. Or they could attack military bases in Qatar, Iraq, and elsewhere. The danger of an escalation of the Middle East conflict hasn't been this great in decades.

The people are the ones who suffer . In Israel, in Iran, in Palestine. And that's why it's worth looking back at the time before May 8, 2018, when Trump withdrew from the nuclear agreement: It was a bad deal. But it was also the case that, according to the other parties involved, Iran was adhering to it at the time. And not only that: in the years prior, Iran had experienced a phase of openness. Instead, the world now has to expect anything. Trump shouldn't be counted on.
