Music teacher sentenced to four years in prison for child abuse in Canada

A music teacher in Nova Scotia, Canada, was sentenced to four years in prison for having sex with a 15-year-old student , resulting in her arrest after pleading guilty to four counts of sexual assault.

The case sparked controversy among Canadian citizens and on social media, given that this is the second time the woman has been arrested for the same reasons.

The Truro, Nova Scotia, court sentenced 37-year-old Nicole MackLeod to four years in prison last Wednesday, July 4. Although the minor was not her student, she contacted the young man through social media. MackLeod attended the same school she taught in the town of Tatamagouche.

The conversation began over school matters, according to the statements. However, the relationship moved to Snapchat, where the messages became more intimate and had sexual overtones.

It's worth noting that the teacher and the teenager had previously had sexual encounters. In the first instance of 2024, MackLeod performed oral sex in an Airbnb rental . However, she was immediately arrested and released on probation, preventing her from having any contact with the young man.

However, the teacher violated the ban, and in late August 2024, the two suspects met in the car near her home. For this reason, she was arrested again in November.

According to some reports, MackLeod suffers from mental health issues with a degree of bipolar disorder and pleaded guilty to four offenses, including breach of employment conditions. He is banned from using TikTok and Snapchat, and has also lost his teaching career.
