VIDEO: Student slaps teacher in class for complaining about being late

A violent incident in a classroom at the Brumado Full-Time School (CETIB), located in the state of Bahia, Brazil, has sparked shock and outrage across the country. A 17-year-old student slapped his teacher after an argument, and the incident was captured on a security camera in the classroom.
According to reports from the Bahia Civil Police, the incident occurred on Tuesday, July 8, 2025. On that occasion, the young man arrived late to class and climbed onto a desk to adjust the air conditioning, which inconvenienced the other students. The teacher asked him to leave the classroom, to which he responded by slapping her.
After the assault, the student attempted to escape from the classroom, but a member of the teaching staff stopped him and took him to the office to receive a discipline.
The school issued a statement condemning the act of violence and confirming that the student had been exposed. It also announced that the young man will face legal charges in the Children and Adolescents Court for a crime similar to bodily harm.
"This unacceptable act not only harms the teacher's physical and emotional integrity, but also affects the entire school community... We reiterate our non-negotiable commitment to the safety and well-being of all educators, students, and families," CETIB stated.
For security reasons, the identities of the student and the teacher have been withheld. The audiovisual material shared was modified to hide the faces of those involved.
