Wall Street opens higher despite US tariff uncertainty.

NEW YORK, New York.- Wall Street opened in positive territory Wednesday despite uncertainty about tariffs in the United States as markets recover from the latest news of the trade war launched by President Donald Trump .

Ten minutes after the bell rang, the Nasdaq rose 0.82% to 20,586 points ; while the The S&P 500 advanced 0.57% to 6,260 points , and the index Dow Jones Industrial Average gained 0.55% to 44,482 points .

Trump announced a 50% tariff on copper on Tuesday and announced plans to impose a tariff of up to 200% on pharmaceutical products if their manufacturers do not establish operations in the U.S.

The president also asserted that although the European Union (EU) is being "friendly" during trade negotiations with Washington , it could send a letter imposing tariffs on the bloc as soon as "about two days."

The Republican leader said he "will not grant extensions" beyond August 1, when he will begin applying so-called "reciprocal tariffs" to his trading partners. He had expressed openness to postponing the tariffs' implementation again, although he had already set them for a dozen countries, including Japan and South Korea.

Meanwhile, investors are awaiting the release of the minutes from the Federal Reserve 's latest meeting.

At the corporate level, earnings were led by Nvidia , which reached a market capitalization of $4 trillion for the first time. It is the first publicly traded company to reach this market value.

The chipmaker is the world's most valuable company , surpassing other tech giants like Microsoft and Apple . At the time of trading, the company was up 2.34% on the stock market.

Among the 30 Dow Jones industrials, the biggest losses were for UnitedHealth (-1.67%), Coca-Cola (-0.41%), and Walmart (-0.32%), while the biggest gains were for Boeing (-3.47%), Merck (-2.96%), and the aforementioned Nvidia.

The price of West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude oil was down 0.85% at this time, to $67.75 a barrel , awaiting attacks on shipments in the Red Sea , announcements of US tariffs on copper, and a forecast of lower US oil production.
