The Ministry of Health issues a travel alert to the US and Canada due to measles.

The Ministry of Health (SSA) issued a travel advisory for measles in the United States and Canada, given the high number of cases reported in those countries.
Previously, on February 26, 2025, the SSA issued a preventive travel notice to Texas, United States, where the largest number of confirmed cases in that nation are concentrated .
The agency also issued two epidemiological notices addressed to all first, second and third level medical units in the country, upon detection of imported cases of measles, one on December 14, 2024, and another on April 9, 2025.
In the United States, 800 cases of measles have been recorded during 2025; as of April 17, they had been reported in 25 states, but Texas (532), New Mexico (56), Kansas (32) and Ohio (21) are the entities with the highest number of infections.

In Mexico, the state with the highest number of confirmed measles cases is Chihuahua, which had 922 cases as of May 5.
On April 29, Health Secretary David Kershenobich reported that 583 cases of measles had been confirmed in the country, the majority in Chihuahua (560), followed by Sonora with five; Campeche and Oaxaca with four cases; Durango and Zacatecas with three; and Sinaloa and Tamaulipas with two.
However, in the epidemiological report for week 17, from April 20 to 26, 2025, the Ssa failed to publish case figures for that period and the cumulative measles cases in 2025.

"If you have recently been vaccinated, consider that the protective effect of the vaccine takes at least two weeks," the advisory emphasizes.
If a person planning to travel is sick or has any signs or symptoms consistent with measles, they should avoid traveling and seek medical attention. They should also maintain as much distance as possible from other people, wear a mask, and clean their hands with antibacterial gel or soap and water.
