Carolina Mejía agrees not to use her positions for proselytizing

The mayor of the National District, Carolina Mejía , stated that she agreed with what President Luis Abinader said yesterday that officials are not allowed to participate in proselytizing events .

"That's how it should have always been," the mayor said at the end of the inauguration ceremony for the Colonial Parking Plaza on Thursday .

The official added that what Abinader said was based on things he has been able to verify.

Commitment to Dominicans

During the event, Mejía also took advantage of the stage to reaffirm his commitment to the Dominican people , stating that he will work for the well-being of the country regardless of the position he holds .

"There is no doubt that my commitment to Santo Domingo and our country will continue to be to pour my heart and soul into every project, and to embrace you from every space I occupy," he expressed.

She also referred to Abinader as a great friend who looked after her when she was little, "and today the city government is the little sister of the central government ."

He concluded his speech by stating that "serving" is and will continue to be his way of doing politics.
