Dominican Republic and Kenya agree to support Kenyan agents in Haiti Mission

The governments of Kenya and the Dominican Republic signed two agreements on Monday through which the Caribbean country will provide support to Kenyan police officers who are part of the Multinational Security Support Mission (MMAS) in Haiti.
The agreements were signed by Dominican Foreign Minister Roberto Álvarez and his African counterpart, Musalia Mudavadi, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' Convention Center.
In the first memorandum of understanding, the Dominican government agreed to cooperate in medical evacuation , as well as the repatriation of injured or deceased members of the Kenyan mission in Haiti.
Álvarez emphasized: "This agreement represents a genuine commitment to those who risk their lives and safety for a more secure future for our region."


Subsequently, a second memorandum of understanding was signed between the Institute of Higher Education in Diplomatic and Consular Training of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic , and the Foreign Service Academy of the Republic of Kenya , with the aim of strengthening the academic training of diplomatic personnel of both nations.
"21st-century diplomacy demands professionals trained in mutual understanding and international cooperation ," Álvarez said.
About the visitKenya 's First Cabinet Secretary and Foreign Minister , Musalia Mudavadi, is visiting the country from yesterday until May 13. During his stay, he is scheduled to hold several meetings .
Tomorrow , the Kenyan Foreign Minister will visit the Minister of Defense, Lieutenant General Carlos Antonio Fernández Onofre. He will also meet with the Minister of Health, Víctor Atallah, and the Minister of Industry, Commerce, and MSMEs, Víctor Bisonó.
Before concluding his visit , he will be received by President Luis Abinader at the National Palace .
