PLD leaders say officials should focus on governing.

Regarding the warning that President Luis Abinader made yesterday to the candidates for Executive Power of the Modern Revolutionary Party ( PRM ), several leaders of the Dominican Liberation Party ( PLD ) agreed that officials should concentrate on governing .
Other opposition leaders believed the Central Electoral Board (JCE) should address the public campaigning actions carried out by several pro-government officials.
"I think President Abinader shouldn't make this call only to aspiring officials; he should make it to all officials, because none of them are working ," said leader Francisco Domínguez Brito.
The former attorney general reiterated that, given the shortcomings of the current system, all public servants must focus on their role within the administration.
Meanwhile, Melanio Paredes stated that the president 's call should prompt a response from the Central Electoral Board.
- "That call from the president, who I understand is protecting his government's image , must have come from the Central Electoral Board, because these demonstrations are clearly public," he said.
President Luis Abinader warned yesterday that public officials seeking elective office must resign, noting that political campaigning is not permitted within the public administration.
"I am a tolerant and democratic president, but everything has its limits ," the president expressed through his social media accounts.
