The judge in the Koldo case summons Pardo de Vera and the former director of Highways to be investigated on July 21.

The judge in the Koldo case summons Pardo de Vera and the former director of Highways to be investigated on July 21.

The judge in the "Koldo case" at the National Court has summoned former Adif president Isabel Pardo de Vera and former Director General of Highways Javier Herrero to appear for questioning on July 21 at 11:00 a.m.

In a ruling obtained by Europa Press, Judge Ismael Moreno made this decision after the Supreme Court judge investigating the Koldo case placed the decision to charge them in his hands, given the evidence against them.

It was these clues that led the Civil Guard's Central Operational Unit (UCO) to search the homes of Pardo de Vera and Herrero on June 26, following an order from the National Court.

It should be recalled that Judge Leopoldo Puente indicated that a document sent by the UCO itself details that both of them "may have provided, within the framework of the improper awards," assistance to former minister José Luis Ábalos through his former advisor Koldo García.

Specifically, this assistance would have been intended to "ensure that the contracts they planned could be successfully awarded," by immediately providing the relevant information contained in the various files, or by putting others out to tender, following the guidelines provided by the minister, through his advisor.

Specifically, the suspects detailed in that report that Koldo García "allegedly used the then president of Adif, Isabel Pardo de Vera, and the director general of Highways, Javier Herrero," to "manipulate" contracting processes.

Investigators shed light on a conversation recorded by Koldo García on November 18, 2020, in which he insisted on awarding the contract to the then-president of Adif for "LIC, initially seeking a maintenance contract, and then, given Pardo de Vera's refusal, proposing an emergency contract."

"He's going to sing again"

To which Pardo de Vera reminded him that he had just been granted one recently and giving him another would be suspicious, although "he promised," according to the agents, "to consider the options to be able to award some work to the construction company."

"We gave him one for 700,000 just now, eh. Just now, he's going to sing again, let me look at it," Pardo de Vera replied to García, who was "speaking directly" with the Adif executive.

It's worth remembering that the National Court was already investigating Pardo de Vera for the "apparently irregular hiring" of Jésica Rodríguez—José Luis Ábalos's former partner—at two public companies, Ineco and Tragsatec.
