Another setback for Alejandro Davidovich: he retires against Rublev in the round of 16 in Toronto due to leg cramps.

The Spanish tennis player surrendered when the scoreboard read 6(3)-7, 7-6(2) and 3-0 in the duel played at Sobey Stadium in Toronto.

Another setback for Alejandro Davidovich. The Spaniard had to retire with muscle problems at the start of the third set of his round of 16 match against Andrey Rublev at the ATP 1000 tournament in Toronto, with the score at 6(3)-7, 7-6(2), 3-0. He came close to winning the match in the second set, but again wasted two match points.

The Malaga player began to show signs of leg cramps at the start of the third set and after losing the third game he informed his opponent that he could not continue the match , played on the center court of Sobey Stadium in Toronto in conditions of intense heat and humidity.

Davidovich, who reached the final of the ATP 500 in Washington last week, twice came within two points of winning the match in the second set.

But in a very close match, even down to the number and intensity of the outbursts of discontent that both players expressed, neither Rublev nor Davidovich were able to break their opponent's serve in the first two sets.

In the first tie-break, it was Davidovich who kept his cool to take the opening set. In the second set, nerves began to surface. In the ninth game, with Davidovich serving and having gone from 40-0 to 40-40, the frustrated Spanish player shouted to his coach, Fernando Verdasco, "What do I do?"

Verdasco asked his player to calm down, and Davidovich was able to hold his serve and take a 5-4 lead. In the next game, Davidovich first led 0-30, two points away from winning the match , and then led 40-40.

But Rublev kept his cool and equalized at 5-5. In the tiebreak, Davidovich's frustration mounted after losing his serve three times , allowing the Russian to win the second set and level the match.

After a brief pause during which Davidovich retired to the locker room, the match restarted with the third set. But it was already evident that the Malaga native was suffering physical problems. In the second game, he knelt and looked at his coach shortly before losing his serve . Shortly after, he had to give up due to cramps in his legs.
