Ear to the art of Aguado

Ear to the art of Aguado

The eagerly awaited bullfight of Sevillian art, which sold out the box office at the Plaza de Las Ventas with the seventh bull, ended with a solitary ear for Pablo Aguado, a poor result in the face of the expectations.

The bullring on Alcalá Street was particularly marked by the appearance of Aguado with Juan Ortega, two of the bullfighters considered to be the most artistic today, with bulls from Juan Pedro Domecq and one from Torrealta, which miraculously saved the afternoon.

The bullfight was unresponsive, and barely any detail was visible in the first five bulls. And it turned out that, in the closing bullfight, Aguado pulled out a right-hand-left maneuver out of nowhere that broke the tedium and put an end to the unpleasantness of the previous encounter.

He sublimated himself with a dozen naturals of great class and art, with the feeling of Aguado, who made the olé roar in Las Ventas.

For today, in bullfight 13, the Mexican Diego San Román will confirm his alternative, at the hands of Curro Díaz.— Gaspar Silveira
