Nicolás Echavarría didn't finish well at the Wyndham Championship, but he's ready to compete in the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Once again, Nicolás Echavarría fell just short of his third PGA Tour victory. His poor shot on the final day of the Wyndham Championship dropped him from second place at the start of the day to 19th in the tournament, which was won by American Cameron Young with a 22-under-par 258.

The Colombian will have to revisit the final rounds for the upcoming season: the playoffs, which begin this Thursday with the FedEx St. Jude Classic, where the top 70 players of the season enter. The most painful was the Masters, when he started the final round in the Top 10 and ended up losing several spots.
Nico was ranked 65th before the start of this tournament and has moved up three places. This week, he'll need a strong performance to finish in the top 50 and advance to the next tournament, the BMW Championship.

Echavarría accumulated a 10-under 270 strokes over the four days of the tournament. This Sunday, he carded a 75, five over par. He had been under par for the first nine holes, but in the second half of the round, he struggled to find his short game, which cost him two bogeys on holes 10 and 17, and two double bogeys on holes 11 and 12.
Nico closed the regular season with 21 tournaments played, making the cut 14 times. He earned a second-place finish (at the Sony Open in January), two top-10 finishes, and six top-25 finishes, including this Sunday's.

Camilo Villegas finished the regular season outside the cut
Colombian Camilo Villegas, meanwhile, ended his regular season on Friday, missing the cut for this tournament, which he won in 2014. The Antioquian will have to wait until the fall tournaments to compete again.
