Pakistani police have arrested 11 people after a video showing a young couple being fatally shot for getting married without their family's approval went viral, authorities said Monday.
The video, widely circulated on social media, shows a man shooting the young couple at point-blank range in broad daylight, as others watch. Police confirmed the footage, saying the killings took place in Deghari district in the southwestern province of Balochistan, according to Chief Minister Sarfraz Bugti.
Sardar Satakzai, a tribal leader , ordered the couple's execution after the bride's brother complained that she had married without his consent, according to police chief Naveed Akhtar. Akhtar said the two men were among 11 people arrested in a series of raids, and nine others were still being sought.
