The Médiabus, a traveling library, has taken to the road in Dracénie

The Médiabus, a traveling library, has taken to the road in Dracénie

Before starting its summer tour at the end of June, the Médiabus – a veritable "cultural bus" – was unveiled on the forecourt of the Pôle Chabran in Draguignan, on the occasion of the presentation of the next cultural season of Dracénie Provence Verdon agglomeration.

It's impossible to miss: the van attracts everyone's attention with its bright, vibrant colors. It sports the new visual identity of the media library network, designed by artist and graphic designer Laura Tisserand. Already a creative residency recipient in 2023, she has forged strong ties with the region.

A fifteenth media library

The Dracénie public reading network offers 14 media libraries spread across the region. The Médiabus complements this offering with a 15th media library, this time mobile, intended to serve rural and isolated areas of the Haut-Var region in particular.

Eight municipalities will benefit from its regular visits from July 1st: La Roque-Esclapon (today), Saint-Antonin (this Wednesday), La Bastide (this Friday), Bargème (July 8), Sillans-la-Cascade (July 9), Châteaudouble (July 11), Taradeau (July 12) and Claviers, according to the media library network website.

On board, the documentary collection consists of 1,500 titles for all ages and audiences (albums, comics, novels, music, films, press, etc.).

From June 24th to 28th, the Médiabus network traveled the country's roads with numerous events in ten municipalities to raise awareness. Photo by Alain Brun-Jacob.

This local service includes reader advice, computer access, and activities. Two librarians will accompany each weekly tour to guide visitors and assist them with their daily needs.

The summer circuit and schedule (1) are set until mid-September, before switching to a regular route.

Inauguration on July 15

For those who missed one of the stages of the Médiabus en fête route, the warm-up lap is not quite over: a highlight will be observed on Tuesday, July 15 in La Roque-Esclapon, from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Among the two and a half hours of festivities in Perrimond Square, a pop-up workshop is planned, which will aim to create a fun, animated map.

This introduction can be complemented by reading children's books. Even toddlers will find stories to inspire their minds.

There's also room for board games for everyone. Feel free to come with a group to discover the entertainment boards designed by children's illustrators. Perfect for sharing a friendly moment away from screens.

The highlight of this eventful morning will be the official opening reception at 11 a.m., with a friendly drink in the presence of elected officials, financial partners, and the artist. A demonstration of all the equipment will once again be offered.
