London is the first capital to secure a trade agreement with Washington. While it remains relatively focused on British automobiles and steel on one side, and American agricultural products on the other, broader negotiations will continue in the coming weeks.
The United Kingdom has pulled off a diplomatic coup. On Thursday, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer and his American counterpart Donald Trump announced that they had agreed on a trade deal between their two countries. " I am delighted to announce that we have reached a landmark trade agreement with the United Kingdom, one of our most cherished allies, (…) that will bring the United Kingdom into line with the United States on economic security ," the American president announced from his White House office.
