French inventor of abortion pill dies aged 98

Professor Étienne-Émile Baulieu , inventor of the abortion pill, died Friday at the age of 98 at his home in Paris, his wife announced to AFP.
Both a physician and a researcher , he was known worldwide for the scientific, medical and societal scope of his work on the role of steroid hormones.
"Committed to progress""His research was guided by his attachment to the progress made possible by science, his commitment to women's freedom , and his desire to enable everyone to live better, longer lives," his wife Simone Harari Baulieu recalled in a press release.
