2026 Municipal Elections. Jennifer Bohrer Barreau, Maurice Carlotti and Johan Ohling announce their candidacy in Pont-à-Mousson

2026 Municipal Elections. Jennifer Bohrer Barreau, Maurice Carlotti and Johan Ohling announce their candidacy in Pont-à-Mousson

It is a "gathering of civil society with broad political sensitivities" that these three personalities, Jennifer Bohrer Barreau, Johan Ohling, and Maurice Carlotti, wish to propose through their candidacy in the upcoming municipal elections in March 2026. The departmental councilor is announced as the lead candidate.

For several weeks, rumors have been swirling around Place Duroc. It's now official, even if the exact officiality of the thing will not be effective until the candidate lists are submitted to the prefecture, a few days before the elections which will take place in March 2026: the elected officials opposing the outgoing mayor Henry Lemoine , Jennifer Bohrer Barreau and Johan Ohling will run together in the next municipal elections.

She, the socialist, and he, the ecologist, had been part of two different opposition lists during the previous election in 2020. More surprising was the commitment alongside them of entrepreneur André Maurice Carlotti (53 years old), owner of the Pont-à-Mousson and Blénod cinemas , with rather center-right political values. "This is precisely a strength, because the idea is to create a synergy, a dynamic to move towards the broadest possible gathering," explains Jennifer Bohrer Barreau (49 years old), who would be the head of the list for this group. Maurice and I have already worked a lot together in the associative framework," explains the departmental councilor.

Today, "while it is too early, ten months before the election, to present a definitive list," the three partners announce that they are "working with a team of citizens aged 18 to 82, with very varied profiles, historical residents of Pont-à-Mousson who come from the associative, economic and commercial world."

What will they propose? "The idea is first of all to do things differently in terms of the method," says Johan Ohling (52), "with more participatory democracy." The man who works at the Greater Nancy metropolitan area, particularly on the themes of mobility and ecological transition, would like to create "the Pont-à-Mousson factory": "ten neighborhood life workshops, where residents discuss their lives and their difficulties with us, suggest things to improve everyone's daily life, and could then be involved in broader issues of the city."

For Jennifer Bohrer Barreau, "the key is living together: not everything that has been done over the past 30 years should be wiped out, but everything can be done better, to improve the well-being of everyone, from schoolchildren to the elderly." For Maurice Carlotti, "we need to make Pont-à-Mousson attractive again, and it must once again become a driving force in the region." This town has potential, but it's dormant; we need to get it moving again," continues Johan Ohling.

Facing them in March 2026 should, of course, be Henry Lemoine. Even if the man who has been mayor since 1995, like the political animal that he is, is currently observing the others without revealing himself. Will Matthieu Jacquot also be there? Or will Bohrer Barreau, Carlotti, and Ohling join forces with Jacquot and the members of the PAM opposition group au Cœur - Place aux Mussipontains, who have announced their candidacy for fall 2024 ? "We are open to all discussions," replies Jennifer Bohrer Barreau. "Of course we can discuss, but when we invite them for a candidacy of broad political unity, they would have to come first," replies Matthieu Jacquot. After these initial setbacks, other meetings between the opposition leaders could take place in the coming days.
