Cyberbullying trial against Brigitte Macron: Saône-et-Loire elected official among the defendants

Ten people, including an elected official from Culles-les-Roches, are appearing in Paris for cyberbullying the First Lady, who was the victim of transphobic hoax.
Ten people (eight men and two women) are appearing before the Paris Criminal Court. Ten people are suspected of cyberbullying Brigitte Macron. As a reminder, the First Lady was the target of a fake news story claiming she was actually a transgender woman. Among the accused is an elected official from the commune of Culles-les-Roches (Saône-et-Loire), reports the JSL. Jean-Luc Montégut is the second deputy mayor of the small commune of 200 inhabitants.
As a reminder, the hearing began this afternoon around 1:30 p.m. Brigitte Macron and three suspects were absent. If the ten defendants are found guilty of moral harassment, they face up to three years in prison and a fine of €45,000.
