At 20, Aldrich Potgieter becomes the youngest South African to win on the PGA Tour

Aldrich Potgieter is the youngest South African to win on the PGA Tour. Excluding American players, only Tom Kim (South Korean), Joaquin Niemann (Chilean), Rory McIlroy (Northern Irish), and Seve Ballesteros (Spaniard) have won on the PGA Tour before turning 21.
A host of high-sounding names that put Potgieter's performance into context, ultra-powerful and with nerves of steel: "It was really tough, all the time. Starting the day as the leader and then finding myself in a play-off. I knew anything could happen. Luckily, we played holes that suited my game. I'm happy not to go home having lost in a play-off again, like in Mexico in February (beaten by Brian Campbell). "
The 20-year-old South African (he turns 21 on September 13) found himself in a three-way playoff with Chris Kirk and Max Greyserman (-22). The former, who had a great opportunity on the first extra hole, gave up on the second. Potgieter and Greyserman extended the fun until the fifth playoff hole, when the young prodigy made a final birdie and became the seventh youngest player to win on the PGA Tour since 1983.
By the time of his victory, Victor Perez (51st, -10) and Antoine Rozner (73rd, -7) had long since left the clubhouse. This stop in Detroit will not leave them with an eternal memory.
