Tourists have decided: this medieval town is the most welcoming in Europe for a weekend.

Thousands of tourists were able to give their opinions on European cities and this one takes the prize.
Which is the most tourist-friendly city in Europe? These cities aren't French, in any case, since none of them captured the hearts of travelers surveyed by Conde Nast Traveler magazine for its 2023 Readers' Choice Awards. Yet, more than 500,000 were asked to vote for the annual awards from this prestigious American magazine, which also has an English version.
In this ranking, Siena, the magnificent Italian city located in Tuscany, took first place in the prestigious ranking. With a dazzling overall satisfaction score of 98.33%, Siena was close to perfection and established itself as the most welcoming city in Europe.

Travelers who participated in this survey unanimously praised the warm welcome of Siena's residents. But beyond hospitality, it was the city's dynamism that won hearts. Readers highlighted the lively cultural cafés, the majestic Piazza del Campo, the Gothic streets where one can explore artisan shops, and the family-run restaurants where one can encounter "the true soul of Siena." The city's historic center also undoubtedly plays a role in this overall impression, as UNESCO has recognized it as a site of "exceptional value."
Among the must-see sites, the famous Piazza del Campo, where the Palio, a bareback horse race, takes place every summer, naturally comes first, but it is by strolling through the Gothic streets, exploring the artisan shops and savoring the authentic cuisine of Siena's restaurants that one discovers the true soul of the city, according to captivated readers.
While Italy topped the list, Ireland also ranked highly in the top 10. Cork came in second with a score of 97/100, with tourists clearly drawn to its lively atmosphere, numerous cafes, restaurants, and markets. It was ahead of the Irish capital, Dublin, with a score of 95.37/100, thanks to its museums and nightlife.
