Dramatic video shows yacht catches fire and sinks off Formentera

A private yacht caught fire and subsequently sank 12 kilometers southeast of Formentera yesterday – Monday, August 11. The seven people on board were rescued, the Spanish rescue organization Salvamento Marítimo announced. The accident occurred around 10:30 a.m.: despite the crew's efforts to extinguish the flames , the fire spread and engulfed the vessel . A nearby ferry diverted its route to provide first aid until the arrival of maritime rescue vessels. The operations were completed in time before the yacht sank .
