Jazz, Pop and Rock, what a passion: from June 29th to July 17th the new edition of the Summer Camp in Poppi

Arezzo, May 22, 2025 – Jazz, Pop and Rock, what a passion: from June 29 to July 17 the new edition of the Summer Camps in Poppi

Studying with the masters: in Poppi, in the province of Arezzo, in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy, intensive seminars are scheduled

with lessons in instrumental technique and ensemble music taught by some of the most qualified Italian professionals

Change of location, but not region, for the summer seminars organized by Cemm, one of the most famous and prestigious music schools in Italy (with two locations, in Bussero and Pantigliate, in the Milan area): this year the Summer Camps, the workshops to deepen the knowledge of the instruments and to study together with great professionals, will always take place in Tuscany, but will be hosted in the spaces of the Antico Fio farmhouse, in the Fio di Sopra area, in Poppi (in the province of Arezzo, in one of the most beautiful villages in Italy), in the heart of the Casentino valley, in a panoramic position in front of the suggestive medieval castle of the Guidi counts. Registration to participate in the workshops is open until all places are filled.

As per tradition, the Summer Camps are designed for professional musicians, amateurs and students enrolled in music schools, music institutes and conservatories: in particular, the one dedicated to Jazz will take place from June 29 to July 3 and the one dedicated to Pop/Rock from July 13 to 17. Students will be divided into two levels (intermediate and advanced), in order to ensure that participants follow the educational program based on their personal preparation. The daily duration of the lessons is six hours: four in the morning, dedicated to the study of the instrument and singing, and two in the afternoon, dedicated to ensembles (also structured based on the level and knowledge of the students).

Now in its 19th edition, the Summer Camps offer an interesting training program, combining instrumental technique lessons and ensemble music. The lessons are structured by setting up work groups divided according to individual level, thus facilitating students in following a path of study and growth starting from their own skills.

The teaching team is, as always, of a high standard: in the jazz field, the teachers include bassist Dario Deidda, saxophonist Pietro Tonolo, trumpeter Flavio Boltro, pianists Claudio Angeleri and Valerio Silvestro, drummers Tony Arco and Metello Bonanno, guitarists Walter Donatiello and Michele Calgaro and singer Loredana Lubrano. Also worthy of note this year is the presence of Beppe Di Benedetto, head of the Big Band course. In the Pop/Rock field, the teaching staff is composed of Ruggero Brunetti (guitar), Luca Colombo (guitar), Andrea Torresani (bass), Maurizio Dei Lazzaretti (drums), Luciano Zanoni (keyboards), Tony Guerrieri (pop singing, backing vocals), Stefania Martin (singing), Diego Esposito (songwriting) and Luca Chiaravalli (songwriting).

Intensive study allows teachers to delve into topics that during traditional class hours, inevitably, are not explored in depth due to time constraints and students to focus and clarify issues and doubts, thanks to constant work and dialogue with teachers. Furthermore, the interaction between musicians favors the growth of individual participants thanks to the possibility of a constructive and continuous comparison.

In their free time, masterclass participants will also be able to use the spaces of the beautiful structure immersed in the greenery of the Tuscan countryside to dedicate themselves to personal study or simply to play together outside of lessons, for example during the evening jam sessions.

Walter Donatiello, a CEMM teacher and promoter of the Summer Camps, states: «The strengths of our educational offering have always been the high professionalism of the teachers, the close teacher-student interaction, guaranteed by limited-number courses, which allows for direct and continuous comparison, and the formation of study groups and ensemble music that blend theory and practice. We teach musicians not only technique, but also how to interact and collaborate. The goal of the Camps is to provide kids with the tools and knowledge to grow professionally. During our seminars, designed by musicians for musicians, commitment and study come first, but we also try to promote opportunities for fun, aggregation and musical evenings to experience music in all its aspects. Our best calling card are the kids who, year after year, return to attend our workshops».

Those who attend the Camps will be issued with certification for requesting training credits.
