Serie A. Genoa-Atalanta: at 20.45 the advance of the penultimate round of the championship

Genoa (4-2-3-1): Siegrist; Sabelli, De Winter, Vasquez, Martin; Frendrup, Badelj; Zanoli, Messias, Vitinha; Pinamonti. Coach: Vieira
Atalanta (3-4-1-2): Carnesecchi; Kossounou, Hien, De Roon; Bellanova, Ederson, Sulemana, Zappacosta; Pasalic; De Ketelaere, Retegui. Coach: Gasperini
The penultimate match of the championship could begin to reveal the first definitive verdicts.
Precisely because of the characteristics of the current standings, it was decided that all matches, except Genoa-Atalanta, would be played at the same time, on Sunday evening.
At the top, Napoli, who are playing Parma away, have only a one-point advantage over Inter, who are facing Lazio at San Siro, who are trying to secure a place in the Champions League.
On the same evening, there will also be a cross-derby with Milan, still smarting from the defeat suffered by Bologna in the Coppa Italia final, who will return to the capital against Roma, who are busy consolidating their place in next year's continental tournaments: Conference or Europe League.
The other contender for a Champions League spot, Juventus, hosts Udinese.
In the fight to avoid relegation, decisive matches could be Monza-Empoli, with the Brianza team already mathematically in Serie B and the Tuscans in second-to-last place; Lecce-Torino: at the “Via del Mare” the Salento team, who are tied with Empoli, are in dire need of points; Cagliari-Venice where, if the islanders have achieved the almost mathematical certainty of remaining in the major tournament, the Venetians are just +1 from the “hot zone”

Three precious points. Three points that are worth salvation. Venezia has achieved a very important victory today in front of the home crowd against Fiorentina. A 2-1 at Penzo that is worth overtaking Empoli and Lecce and leaving the relegation zone.
In the rain, the goals in the second half by Cande' and Oristanio give a victory of capital importance to Di Francesco's team. On the other side, however, we saw a Fiorentina for long stretches tired and fatigued by the European commitment against Betis Seville. The European hopes for the Viola are now reduced to a glimmer.
The first half of Penzo is rather boring, full of fouls and characterized by a slow pace of play. At Fiorentina the absences of Kean and Gudmundsson (out due to muscular problems) inevitably limit the offensive production. Palladino's team, in fact, produces only two significant goal opportunities.
In the 27th minute, Fagioli kicks from the edge, but finds a prompt response from Radu; in the 43rd minute, however, Ndour tries to find the wild card from the left of the area with the ball that just grazes the crossbar. In full recovery, Venezia finally lights up: after dribbling Dodo', Yeboah finds himself alone in front of De Gea, but he misses the opening goal, opening his right foot too much.
The second half, however, is decidedly more explosive, thanks above all to Venezia, now hungrier and more concrete in the final meters. After the great opportunity that Oristanio had in the 59th minute, a minute later the home team unlocks the match. The goal for 1-0 is scored by Cande' who enters the area, controls Perez's cross and beats De Gea from a few steps away.
Fiorentina tries to respond in the 68th minute with Ranieri's conclusion, neutralized by Radu with the help of the post. On that woodwork the evening changes for the guests: on the reversal of the action, in fact, Venezia scores the 2-0, thanks to Oristanio, who thus ends his long drought.
In the 77th minute, Viola manages to close the gap with a goal from Mandragora, who is good at unloading a powerful shot from the ground under the crossbar. The final part is very fragmented and nervous and the Lagunari try to play with the clock, resisting the desperate attacks of their opponents.

Tonight there is a double postponed Serie A match with Venezia-Fiorentina at 18:30 and Atalanta-Roma at 20:45. For the orange-black-greens, a decisive match in terms of salvation, with Lecce chasing and Empoli ahead by two points and three games still to play for Eusebio Di Francesco's team.
The Viola, ninth with 59 points, are aiming for a place in Europe. Atalanta, third with 68 points, can mathematically qualify for the Champions League today. Challenging them is Roma, sixth with 63 points, which in turn is aiming for a place in the Champions League.

At the “Maradona” it ends 2-2, the Azzurri are only 1 point ahead of Inter. Ninety minutes of suffering for Napoli who are caught up twice by the Ligurians.
Conte's team started well and took a deserved lead in the quarter of an hour with Lukaku, then they were caught up in the 32nd minute by a Genoa who were not at all intimidated and who actually closed the first half of the match under pressure.
In the second half, Napoli returned to the field hammering, risked something on the counterattack and came close to doubling the score on a couple of occasions before regaining the lead in the 64th minute with Raspadori. With the doubling, the Azzurri also found the courage and the desire to persist. But in the 84th minute the goal of the rossoblù equaliser that froze the “Maradona” and the score returned to parity until the end of the match.
The hosts immediately put pressure on but “only” in the 5th minute Napoli is dangerous for Siegrist's goal. Politano moves into the area from the right and shoots from the edge of the area towards the far post, just wide.

At the start of the second half, the home team immediately became dangerous in the 48th minute with Lukaku who aimed a right-footed shot at the left corner of Siegrist's goal, who stretched out and deflected the ball.
Conte's team continues to press and comes close to doubling the lead in the 55th minute: Politano sets Di Lorenzo in motion from the right who crosses to the center, Siegrist blocks but the ball remains in the area due to the crowding of players, Anguissa tries to put it in the net but hits it badly and misses the target.
Genoa equalises in the 84th minute with Vasquez. Cross from the left, Vasquez heads it past Meret
Napoli one step away from 3-2 at 90+3'. Soft cross from Neres from the right for Billing who heads just wide of the target.

At the “Maradona” Conte’s men face Genoa with the determination to get the full loot. The schedule of this thirty-sixth matchday has favored them by having them take the field after the Inter match: the Nerazzurri beat Torino away; therefore, Napoli need the three points to restore the gap.
In the race for the Scudetto, however, there are nine points up for grabs in total, so the Neapolitans cannot be distracted.
Napoli (4-4-2): Meret; Di Lorenzo, Rrahmani, Olivera, Spinazzola; Politano, Anguissa, Lobotka, McTominay; Lukaku, Raspadori. Coach Conte
Genoa (4-2-3-1): Siegrist; Sabelli, Otoa, Vasquez, Ahanor; Masini, Frendrup; Norton-Cuffy, Vitinha, Messias; Pinamonti. Coach Vieira
Those who expected a tired Inter, got the answer on the pitch. The Nerazzurri seem anything but physically and mentally exhausted, anything but satisfied.
Inzaghi's team is still in the league. And Napoli must not delude themselves. Today's result at Torino was clear, and largely deserved: 2-0. With a goal in each half: a splendid goal by Zalewski in the 14th minute, and a penalty scored by Asllani in the fourth minute of the second half.
At this point Inter has caught up with Napoli at the top of the table with 77 points. And now all the pressure is on the Neapolitans who have to play at home tonight, but against Genoa: a match that is never a foregone conclusion.
After all, Inzaghi had said it a few minutes before the kick-off and he kept his promise: "We will fight for the Scudetto until the end."
The match
Inzaghi's team seemed unaffected by the strains of the Champions League and dominated the game for the entire first half.
The match was unlocked by Zalewski in the 14th minute with a classy goal: the Nerazzurri player freed himself with a backheel and then placed a curling shot where Torino goalkeeper Milinkovi-Savic couldn't reach.
The first phase of the game was prolonged beyond measure due to 2 suspensions decided by the referee.
The first suspension came just 2 minutes after the start due to an accident in the stands: 2 ultras fell from the balustrade of the Curva Maratona, landing on some people in the lower ring. Three minutes of suspension, the time needed for rescue. No one was seriously injured.
Another suspension then at the end of the time. The rain that arrived on the Olimpico Grande Torino forced the referee to stop the match. Also in this case the break lasted about 3 minutes.
After almost 8 minutes of the regular 45 minutes, the referee blew the double whistle and everyone went to the locker rooms.
The second half resumed with a huge delay due to the rain. The referee wanted to make sure the pitch was playable and waited for the technicians to drain the water from the pitch.
It only takes 2 minutes and the Nerazzurri become dangerous: in the 47th minute the ball is for Taremi, but Milinkovic-Savic comes out in a rush: clear penalty and yellow card for the Granata goalkeeper.
Asllani steps up to the spot and doesn’t miss. Inter 2 – Torino 0.
The second half seems more balanced. But it is Inter who almost scores the third. In the 56th minute, excellent personal play by Zalewski who sees and serves: diagonal from the Nerazzurri winger is blocked by an attentive Milinkovic-Savic.
The Nerazzurri came close to scoring again in the 69th minute. Dumfries put Correa in a great position, but he missed the shot. Calhanoglu then tried but the Torino goalkeeper said no again.
Final thrill, with Torino scoring, but the referee disallows. 3 minutes after the ninetieth, Masina guesses a spectacular overhead kick that beats Martinez, but the action is tainted by a foul on Asllani. The time to deny the goal and then comes the final whistle.

At the moment Inter has the 3 points needed to catch up with Napoli at the top of the table. After the first 45 minutes the Nerazzurri win 1-0 in Turin, thanks to a beautiful goal by Zalewski.

The dynamics are still unclear. But this afternoon two Torino ultras fell from the balustrade of the Maratona curve, for reasons that are still uncertain.
In the fall they would have ended up on some fans who were in the ring below them. The 2 fallen would have had no consequences, while the 3 people hit would have suffered contusions, for this reason they were rescued by an ambulance.
To help the fans, the match was suspended for 3 minutes.

Torino no longer has anything to ask of this championship. Salvation is there. And Europe is too far away. The risk is to lose concentration.
But, speculate, the risk for Inter is to think that everything is easy and take lightly an opponent that is never easy to meet. Moreover, the Nerazzurri come from the feat against Barcelona, which sapped physical and mental energy. And obviously now the big goal is precisely the Champions League final.
“We are clearly satisfied with what we have done with Barcelona, but we know that there is one last step to take,” Simone Inzaghi commented to Sky Sport microphones pre-match.
"The Scudetto is not in our hands because Napoli is ahead of us, but we will do everything we can to win it."

A point each between Verona and Lecce, who drew 1-1 on matchday 36 of Serie A. A result that is especially convenient for Hellas, who interrupted a streak of three defeats in a row and with today's draw moved up to 33 points, which is worth +5 on the relegation zone with two matchdays to go. A point that is of little use, however, to Lecce who moved up to 28 points but were caught up in fourth-last place by Empoli and now risk being overtaken by Venezia, who are busy tomorrow with Fiorentina. For Giampaolo's Salento team, safety is becoming increasingly difficult to achieve. It all happened in the first half: Lecce broke the deadlock halfway through the first half with Krstovic, well served by Tete Morente. For the Salento centre-forward it was the eleventh goal in the championship, which makes him one of the possible market men of this summer. Zanetti's team's approach was too soft, but they still managed to equalize before half-time thanks to a winning header from Coppola following a free kick taken by Suslov. In the second half the game heated up, with the Scaligeri dangerous with Serdar and Coppola again. Lecce responded with Banda who however literally missed an open goal on an assist from Pierotti. Also worth mentioning was a very tough clash between Mosquera and Gaspar, with the Lecce defender staying on the ground for a long time but after a few moments of concern he got up again.

Monza returns to winning ways after four months. Alessandro Nesta's boys, already relegated, beat Udinese 2-1 in the match at the Bluenergy Stadium: the goals scored by Gianluca Caprari and Keita Balde were decisive, in the middle Lucca's temporary equaliser. The home team had a good approach to the match, with Atta being among the most active and immediately winning a corner. The pace of the first half was slow and the first dangerous conclusion came only in the 19th minute, when Kamara acrobatically missed the target. In the 26th minute Solet tried to do it all by himself, shooting, but Pizzignacco was alert and did not let himself be surprised. Two minutes later Davis attempted a conclusion, but was too weak to worry the opposing goalkeeper. Monza's first flash came at the end of the first half with Forson who, after having beaten Bijol with a tunnel, made an interesting pass to Birindelli, who was unable to reach the ball.
In the second half, coach Kosta Runjaic tries to shake up his team by bringing on Lovric and Lucca, but it is the red and whites who take the lead: Birindelli hits the post, Caprari pounces on the rebound and makes it 1-0. Udinese's reaction is not long in coming, in fact, in the space of a few minutes Rui Modesto and Lucca carve out two chances, which however they fail to capitalize on. The black and white team begins a phase of forcing that, after much effort, leads to the 1-1 goal scored by Lorenzo Lucca: Akpa Akpro has the ball stolen from him by Karlstrom, who serves the striker, who does well to pierce Pizzignacco with a right-footed cross. Galvanized by the draw, the home team goes in search of the goal to overtake, with Lucca unleashed and close to 2-1 on two occasions. In the final, however, it is still the Brianza team who strike with Keita Balde who, on Zeroli's header, puts the ball in the back of the net. Nesta's team defended the 2-1 lead until the final whistle and achieved their first victory since January 13, when they beat Fiorentina.
Thanks to this result, Monza rises to 18 points and avoids Salernitana's negative record, while Udinese remains twelfth with 44 points. In the next round, the Friulians will be busy away at the Allianz Stadium against Juventus, while the Lombards will host Empoli at the U-Power Stadium.
