The Fortore pipeline has been repaired, but Vieste and Canneto remain on high alert for possible drops in pressure.

The Fortore pipeline has been repaired, but Vieste and Canneto remain on high alert for possible drops in pressure.

The complex repair work on the Fortore pipeline, a strategic infrastructure for the northern Gargano's water supply, was completed in the early hours of this morning, August 15th. Acquedotto Pugliese announced that optimal service is expected to resume tomorrow, while pressure reductions will be recorded in the town of Vieste this afternoon.

The sudden break, detected on the evening of August 14th thanks to continuous flow monitoring via the remote control system, required immediate intervention by technical teams. The work proved particularly challenging due to the large size of the pipeline, the high operating pressures, and the rugged terrain. During the night, targeted maneuvers allowed service to be maintained throughout the northern Gargano, avoiding widespread disruptions.

After the network was flushed, the pipeline was gradually reopened, taking due care to eliminate any air bubbles that had formed during the draining process. Technicians will remain on site until full functionality is restored.

Pressure restrictions are also in place until tomorrow, August 16th, in the Canneto district of Rodi Garganico. The disruption could particularly affect buildings without a pressure tank or with limited storage capacity.

To reduce service disruptions, AQP has deployed two tankers for supplementary water supplies: one on Strada Provinciale 41 Ter, near Molino di Mare (Rodi Garganico), and one on Largo Castello, in Vieste. The company recommends residents to rationalize consumption and avoid non-priority use during the hours affected by the reductions, to minimize the impact on users.
