Relaunching the nautical industry as a driving force for Monfalcone's development

Monfalcone's Mayor, Luca Fasan, met with Antonio Paoletti, President of the Venezia Giulia Chamber of Commerce, to strengthen cooperation between the two organizations and discuss the city's development prospects, with particular attention to the nautical sector, considered strategic for the region's economic future.
At the heart of the discussion was a shared desire to strengthen, in continuity with the efforts of previous administrations, the sector's development through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding between the Municipality and the Chamber of Commerce. This agreement will also advance the process of establishing the Monfalcone Nautical District. This could be integrated into the project that will be launched next December with the creation of a new regional mega-district between sea and space, within which Monfalcone could assume a central role as the operational headquarters of the nautical sector, thanks to its existing spaces, infrastructure, and consolidated expertise.
The Protocol's primary objective will be to generate concrete training and employment opportunities for local young people, leveraging local skills and encouraging the development of recreational boating-related industries, particularly in the assistance, maintenance, and marine electronics sectors, a sector with exceptional potential.
“The growth of the nautical industry in Monfalcone represents a great opportunity for our region and our young people,” said Mayor Luca Fasan.
We will resolutely continue along the path we've charted over the past nine years of administration, strengthening our collaboration with the Chamber of Commerce and aiming to make Monfalcone a regional and national hub of excellence for the nautical industry and related services. Our future depends on retaining our talent, especially the younger generations, by offering them concrete training and employment prospects.
During the meeting, the Chamber of Commerce reiterated its willingness, including through the Gorizia Fund, to support ongoing and developing municipal projects, confirming a solid and operational synergy.
Mayor Fasan also recalled that, already at the laying of the foundation stone for NLComp's new headquarters, thanks to the Samer group's investment in CoShipping, President Paoletti had emphasized Monfalcone's strategic role as a key hub for the future of the nautical industry, acknowledging its dynamism and ability to attract major investors.
