Cardiac Surgery and Transcatheter Interventions: New and Now at the University Hospital of Foggia

The conference "Cardiac Surgery and Transcatheter Interventions: New and Now at the Foggia University Hospital " will be held on Saturday , September 27, 2025, starting at 9:00 a.m. at the Regio Hotel Manfredi in Manfredonia. The conference president is Domenico Paparella , director of the University Cardiac Surgery Unit at the Foggia University Hospital.

Ten months after its inception, the University Cardiac Surgery Department at the Foggia Polyclinic is constantly evolving, keeping pace with updated guidelines for valvular diseases and the increased healthcare demands in the area, such as participation in the myocardial infarction and emergency cardiac surgery network.

The existing minimally invasive valve repair techniques will be complemented by percutaneous techniques that will be performed in the new hybrid room, the most modern in southern Italy.

The therapeutic approaches, tailored to the needs of each patient, are evaluated by the Polyclinic's multidisciplinary Heart Team, which includes Cardiology and Cardiac Anesthesia.

But the Cardiac Surgery Department in Foggia also engages in research, participating in important international trials, and teaching, with the newly established Specialization School opening in the 2025/26 academic year. All this without neglecting one of the most difficult challenges in our region: reducing passive mobility for cardiovascular procedures.
