Regional elections in Tuscany, Conte has the Five Star Movement's grassroots vote: the vote on whether to support Democrat Giani is online.

The decision on the alliance between the Democratic Party and the Five Star Movement in Tuscany, and in effect on the Five Star Movement's green light for the re-election of outgoing regional president Eugenio Giani , a representative of the reformist Democratic Party, will be made by Movement members.

This decision emerged from a meeting attended by Five Star Movement leader Giuseppe Conte with Tuscan coordinators and elected officials. It was a "long and difficult" online summit , writes Il Fatto Quotidiano, notoriously close to the Five Star Movement, where many attendees expressed "doubts and reservations" about supporting the outgoing Giani , a movement that, after all, remained in opposition during the last regional legislature.

The greatest concerns have reportedly emerged among members and elected officials in Livorno, Empoli, and Carrara , who are the most reluctant to support Giani. This is why Conte, at the end of a meeting that ended after midnight, chose to entrust the M5S members with an online vote to decide whether to support Giani and the center-left, or whether to run alone. The vote is expected to use the "Sky Vote" platform, already well-known within the Movement. However, it is currently unclear whether the voting process will be concluded before the PD assembly scheduled for Thursday, August 7th, in Florence.

On the Democratic Party front, the outgoing regional president professes a certain optimism. On the sidelines of a press conference, Giani highlighted the "patient work of building the network, of programmatic recommendations that can embrace social issues, attention to employment, and the environment, which characterize what could be a broad field," hoping that "all of this will mature within a few days from now."

The outgoing governor then emphasized the importance of the Democratic Party convening its leadership meeting for Thursday evening: "It will allow us to strengthen our capacity for initiative and establish the roles with which to face the upcoming elections."
