Security, the new website of the single emergency number 112 is online

The new website 112.gov.it is online today, the multilingual information portal dedicated to the European Single Emergency Number 1 1 2 (one, one, two).
The new website 112.gov.it is active from today to commemorate June 21, 2010, when the first 1 1 2 Central Response Center (CUR) was activated in Varese, Lombardy.
The new portal, through an intuitive and simple graphic design, provides information on coverage, how to use and accessibility to the Single Emergency Number.
A section of the site is dedicated to the functionality of the Service and the Single Response Centers and illustrates how emergency communications are handled and subsequently forwarded to the second level centers of the State Police, Carabinieri, Fire Brigade, Coast Guard or health care.
New to the portal is the “Most common emergencies” area where the user can find information sheets with practical and useful advice on how to manage the first stages of the emergency while waiting for help to arrive. Another new element is the section with data on emergency calls, where the numbers of calls received by the CUR, those forwarded to the emergency agency and those “filtered” and which, therefore, are not forwarded to the CUR because they do not require real operational intervention, will be updated every quarter.
Through an interactive link you can directly access the 112Sordi service, which is managed, for the entire national territory, by the Piedmont Region.
Finally, a section is dedicated to the “Where are U” app, the reference application for 1 1 2 (one-one-two), available for all CURs and created by the Lombardy Region. Its goal is to provide precise information on the position via GPS in case of emergency, so that help can be sent quickly and accurately. The App, also available for free download on iOS and Android, also allows for “silent” or text-based communications, via a special chat.
The site was developed by the Department of Public Security of the Ministry of the Interior and is funded by the European Union with funds from the Next Generation EU program.
