Matteo Renzoni in action
Prato, 11 June 2025 - “Unfortunately, the past season did not give us the joys we imagined. But it was a good test for the whole team: it certainly helped us grow, in view of the next one”. Matteo Renzoni is the one to sound the charge, indicating objectives and guidelines to follow for the Cavalieri Union in view of the Serie A (group 2) 2025/26. Despite being only 26 years old, he is one of the club's veterans, considering that his debut in the first team dates back to 2017. The scrum-half has therefore been a fundamental piece of the "tuttineri" for years, as well as a member of the "hard core" of the team shaped by Carlo Pratichetti and chiselled by Alberto Chiesa. A group that came close to salvation in the last Serie A1 tournament, missing out by a couple of points, and that resumed training about a week ago. But the foundations are there to rebuild and plan a championship as top of the class in the new group. "We faced teams that were much better equipped than us in the last tournament and despite this we did not look bad on any pitch we went to. Even though we are very sorry about the position in the standings that cost us our stay in group 1 - concluded "Renzo" - for the next season we will start again from ourselves, from those who are and will always be there: the group is cohesive and eager to start again. Hoping for a rapid integration of the boys who will come up from the youth teams, to give them some breathing space in less covered roles".
