De Trizio, heart of Bari: «The turning point, now or never»

BARI - Calm but incisive, Giorgio De Trizio consults the crystal ball to glimpse glimpses of rebirth in his former Bari that saw him as a leader in the 1980s. An accurate analysis starting from what has happened in recent months to arrive at the short and long-term future of the Galletti.
De Trizio, let's start from the now irreparable rift between the ownership of Ssc Bari and almost all of the red and white fans. How do we get out of it?
"The solution would be for Aurelio to leave. In a certain sense, you can't blame him for having brought the club back from D to B. He did his part, but it was a journey without heart and desire to meet the people. The timeshare is the wrong choice from the start."
The club could change its philosophy compared to the last two seasons, aiming for example at a significant summer market.
"I think this time the team will be made to aim for the playoffs and if we find ourselves in the conditions to go up, we will not hold back. They will stay within a specific budget. It will depend a lot on who will manage it to make it profitable."
The fans in the city are waiting. Many will wait to see what will be done in the next two months before deciding whether or not to return to San Nicola. It seems that the credit towards the De Laurentiis family has run out.
"People don't believe it anymore. The De Laurentiis are better at buying than selling, both the clubs and the players. They make money, but they could produce bigger profits. Caprile and Cheddira in Bari were strokes of luck. It's a completely different story compared to Napoli's players."
How do you judge Bari's season overall?
"We could have easily reached the playoffs. The technical and mental management was wrong. Longo was not a leader, in fact at a certain point he even belittled the players. In Bari there is no need to be philosophical. Coaches like Catuzzi, Fascetti, Conte, Materazzi and Ventura did not enchant with words but paid attention to facts. We need a charismatic coach, a half-crazy football showman who doesn't care about a draw and doesn't justify performances that aren't up to par. Someone with a winning mentality."
Magalini, Di Cesare and Longo deserve a second chance? Or is it right to change everything and immediately.
"It depends on the intentions of the company. The managers and the coach, of a corporate nature, have limited themselves to administration. If you don't keep what you promise, it's right to leave."
In their statements, the managers were not always aligned with the coach in terms of objectives. A distance that in the long run proved unproductive.
"Everyone defended their position. Situations that we can no longer tolerate. We need motivated people who can turn everything around. Someone like Perinetti, a talent in his work, or like Giovanni Sartori."
Meanwhile in Naples, the results are coming. The other evening they celebrated their second scudetto in three years which - beyond the comparisons between the clubs - clashes with the lowball game played in Bari.
"On a business and football level, Aurelio De Laurentiis has all my respect. He understands football. In Bari he threw himself into a situation from which, perhaps, not even he knows how to get out now."
On Friday, Luigi De Laurentiis was next to his father Aurelio in front of the tricolor cake to toast the championship lead and the 76th birthday of Filmauro's number one. Scenes that in Bari represent a chimera.
"Luigi did very well. It's fair, as much as it displeases the people of Bari."
Could the Neapolitan tricolor bring Luigi De Laurentiis back to speak to understand the intentions in Puglia?
«Napoli's victory could be a driving force for Bari. Given the visibility, a push to attract buyers and sell the red and white club».
What is the first move to make?
"Allocate money to start a long-term program. If you don't yet have a sports center and a structured organizational chart that starts, for example, from a large scouting area, it means that there are no growth prospects."
Aside from recent rumors about the hypothetical arrival of a minority shareholder in the company, do you really believe that there could be a turning point in the near future at the top levels of Ssc Bari?
"If someone comes, they buy the whole package. We're talking about international entrepreneurs who invest by putting money in, reasoning with all or nothing. With timeshare, co-participation wouldn't make sense."
