Freediving: Paralympians also book the Chengdu World Championships

Freediving: Paralympians also book the Chengdu World Championships

If there's one discipline in which Italy excels at the Chengdu World Games, it's freediving, both Paralympic and otherwise. It's a matter of history and results that in recent years have brought considerable jubilation to FIPSAS President Ugo Claudio Matteoli. Among the so-called "able-bodied" athletes , Matteo Michele Airoldi, Livia Bregonzio, Mauro Generali, and Cristina Rodda will compete in the waters of the Chengdu Sport University Sancha Lake Campus pool. The Paralympic contingent is impressive, bringing over 40 different world records to China. Katia Aere, Pierluigi Bonafin, Alessandro Cianfoni, Ilenia Colanero, Michela Dal Bianco, Ottavio Demontis, Fabrizio Pagani, Marta Pozzi, and Gianluca Visconti will dive in and swim with one goal in mind: to once again confirm their position on top of the world by filling the trophy cabinets. In many cases, they're the 'athletes to beat,' and it's right that their opponents chase them. "And let's hope it continues to be that way," they say.
