Careggine (Lucca), August 12, 2025 – The Isola Santa – Careggine running race returns on Sunday, August 17, with the Apuan Alps Park Trophy – 22nd Run in the Municipality of Careggine. The 24th edition of the uphill race will begin in the village of Isola Santa, in the municipality of Careggine, and, after 14 km, will lead participants to Careggine. Start: Isola Santa, 9:30 a.m. Info: Graziano Poli – 347 379 6343.
We are in the province of Lucca, home to Isola Santa, a small village consisting of a few stone houses with slate roofs and a charming little church overlooking a recently created artificial lake. This place is considered one of the most beautiful villages in Tuscany and is often compared to a fairytale setting for its unique charm. The initiative is the brainchild of Graziano Poli, president of the ASD Parco Alpi Apuane, which was founded in the now-ruined house located near the recently restored church. The race offers runners the opportunity to run amid spectacular views, with the Apuan Alps as a backdrop. The event, always meticulously organized by the GS Alpi Apuane, is held under the aegis of the UISP, with the patronage of the Municipality of Careggine and the Unione Comuni della Garfagnana, and with the photographic collaboration of the ETS Regalami un sorriso.
