Florence, June 22, 2025 – Florence lights up and greets summer with a great classic of Italian running. The 85th Cetilar Run Notturna di San Giovanni took place, the second oldest running event in Italy, organized once again by Maratona di Firenze with the Patronage of the Municipality of Florence.

Here THE RANKING

An event born in 1938 to celebrate the Patron Saint of Florence and included, with the Society of San Giovanni Battista, in the calendar of official celebrations. As always, everything happens in the heart of Florence, in the central Piazza San Giovanni, in front of the Duomo and Giotto's Bell Tower and a 9.9 km route that passes through the most beautiful monuments of the Tuscan capital. The 85th Cetilar Run Notturna di San Giovanni is won by the Kenyan Jakob Kipkorir Kosgei (GS Orecchiella Garfagnana) in 29'49” with a sprint finish ahead of his compatriot Boniface Fundi Njiru (Atl. Libertas Orvieto) who finishes just one second behind in 29'50”. "I'm happy to have won, it's my first race in Florence and it's really hot, I'm very excited", commented the winner. The first Italian is Vincenzo Grieco (Atl. Castello) and he ranks third in 31'27”.

Vincenzo had the same placing as last year, only slightly slower as he finished in 31'04”. Kenyan flag also for the women's race which saw the victory of 23-year-old Mercy Jebichii (Atl. Gran Sasso Teramo) in 35'40, while Margherita Voliani, representing Atletica Unicusano Livorno, placed right behind her, just 4 seconds behind in 35'44”. The podium was completed by the Italian Mohamud Hodan Mohamed (Atl. Castello) in 36'13”. Tested by the temperature and very excited, the comment of the Kenyan winner Merci Jebichii: "I'm thrilled, it's a very hot evening and it's my first time in Florence, I'm very happy to have won".

Two thousand participants for the 85th Cetilar Run Notturna di San Giovanni, once again it was an inclusive event, in addition to the competitive race there was the 4 km walk, or run, open to all. The team points classification sees the success of the GS Il Fiorino with 1730 points preceding Atl. Castello with 1236 points while the home team, Atl. Firenze Marathon, is third with 946 points.
