Alarm bells ring in Israel as Iran's seventh wave of missiles arrives

Alarm bells ring in Israel as Iran's seventh wave of missiles arrives

The seventh wave of missiles fired by Iran toward Israeli territory since the escalation between the two countries began raised alarm bells in Israel on Sunday, after the army announced minutes earlier that it had detected the launch from the Islamic Republic.

"Defense systems are operating to intercept the threat," the military announced as air raid sirens sounded in Jerusalem and other parts of the country.

Alarms sounded throughout the center and north of the country.

The Army assured that the Air Force is working to intercept the missiles and "strike where necessary to eliminate the threat."

In the moments before the Iranian attack, Israeli aircraft were attacking Tehran, EFE confirmed.

The Israeli emergency service, Magen David Adom, said it has not received any reports of impacts resulting from the attacks. Firefighters have not reported any incidents so far.

" Iran will pay a heavy price for intentionally killing civilians, women and children. "We will achieve our goal in one fell swoop," Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said during a visit to Bat Yam, on the outskirts of Tel Aviv, where a missile struck a building last night, killing at least seven people, two of them children.

The escalation began with a series of Israeli airstrikes on Iran early Friday morning, motivated by officials, according to the Islamic Republic's advances in its nuclear program and the threat posed to the country by its ballistic missile production.

Since then , its aviation has attacked military infrastructure (air defense systems, ballistic missile depots, etc.) and nuclear plants (such as Natanz or Isfahan) , but also senior members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard and nuclear scientists.

In Iran, the attacks caused at least more than 100 deaths, although authorities have not yet confirmed these figures. Meanwhile, in Israel, Iranian missile launches (seven waves so far) have caused 14 deaths and some 200 injuries.
