Claudia Sheinbaum agrees with lowering the interest rate

MEXICO CITY.- This Friday, the president of Mexico , Claudia Sheinbaum Pardo , declared that she agrees with lowering the interest rate , “ because it helps investment .”

"I agree. It's the Bank of Mexico 's decision, they make it, but I agree that the interest rate should be lowered because it helps investment. The lower the interest rate, the more loans there will obviously be, and the more investment there will be in our country," the president said.

“Banks have a lot of resources in Mexico. In fact, every time I meet with them, I always ask them: When are you going to lower interest rates? Because the Bank of Mexico already lowered them, and they have to lower them so that even small and medium-sized businesses can qualify for credit,” Sheinbaum Pardo commented during her morning press conference at the National Palace.

"So it's a decision by the Bank of Mexico based on its own estimates, calculations, and models, but from my point of view, it's a good one," he added, noting that there has been no inflation related to the interest rate cut.
