Highway closures, with sporadic fires, and marches without camps: the chaos of traffic was greater than the magnitude of support for Cristina Kirchner.

Pro-Kirchnerist groups, such as the Utep (United Workers' Union) and the CTA (Cultural Association of Workers' Workers) neighborhood front, deployed a new wave of sporadic pickets on highways crisscrossing towns in Greater Buenos Aires this Thursday to express their rejection of the upheld conviction of Cristina Kirchner. The protest, which this time featured mountains of burning tires , resulted in a nuisance for those trying to travel, causing traffic delays of nearly two hours and the resulting inconvenience for those who needed to travel.
As a counterpoint to the complications suffered by motorists and transport trying to travel through Moreno, Avellaneda or Florencio Varela, in the City of Buenos Aires the police prevented a camp from being set up in Lavalle Square , in front of the Palace of the Tribunals, where the Supreme Court is located, since they did not allow the protest organizers to take down the chemical toilets they had rented, nor to set up their gazebos or block the street.
Just as they did on Tuesday , after the Supreme Court upheld the six-year prison sentence for corruption offenses in the Highways Case, protesters again took to the roads on Wednesday and Thursday to follow the slogan of "mobilization and struggle in the streets" that various organizations, such as the CTA, had proclaimed to condemn the ruling.
In protests that lasted from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., dozens of activists from the Union of Workers of the Popular Economy, which reports to Juan Grabois, from the Territories in Struggle bloc, the CTA Neighborhood Front, and Buenos Aires delegations set up shop on various highway sections in Quilmes, Avellaneda, Tigre, Moreno, and San Martín. All municipalities are under Kirchnerist control.

In the southern zone, pickets were set up on the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway , near Quilmes, at the so-called Varela intersection. There were also protests in the Wilde area of Avellaneda.
In the town of Moreno , they were located on the Autopista del Oeste and the intersection of Route 23, at the intersection of General Paz and 25 de Mayo, while in the northern area the pickets were set up around the Pan-American Highway and Route 197 , in the Tigre district.

On this occasion, the protesters accompanied the demonstration with flags and banners calling for support for Cristina Kirchner, slogans opposing the Supreme Court and the media, and in several cases, they piled up tires, which they set on fire continuously, aided by bottles of alcohol, as evening fell.

In this context, National Gendarmerie water trucks responded to these situations, first extinguishing the fire and clearing the roads to allow traffic to circulate. One of the most complicated areas was the Autopista Oeste highway in Moreno, in front of the traditional Nine shopping mall, where groups of young people were relocating with their fires. Therefore, the gendarmes also used tear gas to disperse them.
Regarding this, National Security Minister Patricia Bullrich stated: "In the face of chaos, we respond with order." At around 8:00 p.m., she announced that all highways were clear.
We are those who work every day to move the country forward, restoring order and reducing inflation. On the other side are those who claim to defend workers, but ruin their lives by blocking streets to defend a woman convicted of corruption.

The day of pickets generated anger and outrage among social media users, who complained about all the complications they had to endure after being stranded on a political protest. Almost none of those who missed a doctor's appointment, missed an exam, or missed a commitment expressed empathy for the situation of Cristina Kirchner, who, in addition to serving the sentence imposed by the courts, will have to repay more than 85 billion pesos.
There was also criticism of Axel Kicillof's government for allowing these types of demonstrations without ordering traffic clearance or control.
In this regard, Buenos Aires Senator María Florencia Arietto warned that protesters could "set the province on fire because Kicillof won't dislodge the pickets."
The police are cordoning off the Pan-American Highway at Highway 197, but the highway isn't blocked. The blockade is on Highway 197, which belongs to Kicillof. The same applies to the Buenos Aires-La Plata Highway, which is also provincial; the blockade is allowed by Kicillof.

"The people of Buenos Aires should know that the only people responsible for you not being able to travel through the province are Kicillof and his team," he added.
