Christian Martinoli had to travel in the trunk to get to the Tri game.

During a recent interview with Mexican sports journalist Antonio Rosique, he shared one of his many anecdotes with his colleague Christian Martinoli. This time, he recounted a fun moment they shared during the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

"At Germany 2006, we were going to report on Mexico's debut against Iran. It was in Nuremberg, we were stationed in Munich, and the logistical decision was made to go by train to make it easier," said the current host of the reality show "Exatlón." Rosique comments that such an act was a bad idea, because dozens of partying Mexicans were at the station where they arrived.

"That's where they (the Mexicans) spent the night before the game against Iran. They drank and partied. When we got off, they were there, and we said, 'Dude, we're not getting out of here.'" He says, his concern stemmed from the people accompanying him, namely César Ramón, Menotti, Valdano, and Martinoli.

Because these figures were so well-known at the time, it was difficult for them to sneak among the Mexican fans without being stopped for photos or autographs. Antonio recounts that some team vans were supposed to pick them up, but because they were in a hurry, they had to take taxis, and that's when Martinoli's funny story happens.

“We took some taxis, and it turned out we didn't fit; Martinoli was going to the back of the taxi. Martinoli had to go to the stadium in the back of the taxi,” Rosique told his guest, while the latter laughed.

However, Rosique says that wasn't the only fun moment they had at that World Cup. "On the way back, it was still a disaster. "There was a little monkey called Tachidito. On the way back, they brought him back in a little box, and he stayed in the trunk of the taxi, and we left," he concluded.

If you don't know who Tachidito is, he was one of the most iconic puppets on broadcast television. To date, his legacy has been generating entertaining content while major sporting events like the Olympic Games and the World Cup are taking place.
