The gaps the Civil Guard is trying to fill in the accident involving Diego Jota and André Silva: burnt tires, a missing truck driver, and the car's GPS.

Only six days after an accident that claimed the lives of Diogo Jota and his brother André Silva , the causes point to "excessive speed" and a problem with one of the wheels of the vehicle in which they were traveling.

These are the initial conclusions reached by the Zamora Civil Guard Traffic Brigade, which is responsible for investigating the accident. The fire has significantly hampered their work, as it has destroyed evidence that could have accelerated the investigation, which will be handed over to the sole court of Puebla de Sanabria, headed by Elena Rubio González . She is responsible for concluding what happened that night of July 3rd at approximately 12:40 p.m.

One of the most painful aspects was the need for their families to identify the young men's bodies through personal belongings. Thanks to rings and other personal evidence, it was possible to conclude that the driver of the vehicle was Diogo Jota . Another factor was the deterioration of the tires' rubber, a key element in determining whether one of them could have caused the accident. The Civil Guard trusts that the car had an integrated GPS, like many high-end cars, to reliably determine the speed at which the players were traveling at the time of the accident.

For now, this brigade from the Zamora Command has had to rely on only clues because they haven't been able to identify any witnesses to what happened. In fact, they are still searching for the truck driver who recorded the video showing the burning car shortly after the crash. However, the rapid viralization of the video is making it very difficult to reach the source so they can question him or the occupants of the other vehicles seen in the 25 seconds that have already been viewed by hundreds of millions of people.

Despite the media coverage of the case, the Civil Guard is in no hurry to resolve an accident that could have significant financial and liability consequences, even though no crime was committed. The tragedy has already occurred, but the extent of the involvement of all those involved in the tragedy remains to be determined in case any subsequent claims arise.
