Brussels is taking on an internal enemy, and it could yield 1,300 billion

With a new strategy, the European Commission wants to breathe new life into the pursuit of a fully-fledged internal market. The official plans will not be announced for another two weeks, but the FD has already seen a draft version. It contains many good intentions and a few concrete proposals, but few binding measures. What exactly the goal is and how companies are responding to these plans, you will hear from EU correspondent Daan Ballegeer.
Today marks the start of the 'horror summer' ( Het Parool ) and 'traffic chaos' ( De Telegraaf ) around Amsterdam. Up to and including 6 October, various motorways and tunnels will be given a major overhaul. The weekend of Friday 11 and Saturday 12 July will take the cake, as by far the biggest traffic infarction is expected. And then, of all times, 25,000 visitors will come to the Olympic Stadium for the Amsterdam Summer festival. FD editor Alwine de Jong explains how the municipality and the festival organiser are going to solve this problem.
