A commemorative plaque and a controversial inscription

A commemorative plaque and a controversial inscription

A commemorative plaque has been placed at the entrance to the new fountain on Bochenka Street. The caption, however, is surprising, suggesting that the park's name, named after Maria and Lech Kaczyński, was inspired by… local residents.

A few days ago, one of the residents of Trzebnica noticed a plaque that was attached at the entrance to the new fountain on Bochenka Street in Trzebnica.

"Look at what's written there. The mayor seems to want to show that the residents wanted the city park to be named after Maria and Lech Kaczyński, even though everyone knows it was his initiative and there were no public consultations. Why this misleading? Maybe he's ashamed of his idea now, " said a resident who asked us to describe the matter.

We went to the site. Sure enough, there were signs affixed to the concrete wall at the entrance that read:

“Maria and Lech Kaczyński City Park in Trzebnica.” Underneath, the inscription reads: “The Mayor and Residents of the Trzebnica Commune.”

The caption might indeed suggest that the residents of the commune voted for the presidential couple's name. Meanwhile, Mayor Marek Długozima never held any consultations. The facts, however, are completely different.
