A commemorative boulder dedicated to the Quistorp family – former owners of these lands and founders of the park – was unveiled in Kasprowicz Park in Szczecin.

The idea of erecting the boulder was born in 2020, when members of the Nasze Księgi association were organizing their archive regarding the Quistorps.

- This day is truly festive for us - said the president of the association, Żaneta Maciejowska. - We have been operating since 2005, and one of our first projects was a thematic route in the footsteps of the Quistorps, which runs right here.

The boulder was placed on Fałata Avenue, near the monument of the Poles' Act. It weighs about 17.5 tons and comes from near Barlinek. Its transport and installation were possible thanks to cooperation with the city and the inclusion of the project in the investment of the renovation of the avenue.

– In 1908, the mayor of Szczecin announced that if Martin Quistorp donated land for the park, the city would erect a boulder to commemorate the donors. The boulder was not erected then, nor for the next hundred years – said Żaneta Maciejowska. – We came to the conclusion that it had to be done eventually.

The plaque on the boulder contains information about the Quistorp family and their contribution to the development of the city. This symbolically fulfilled an old promise.

Although the Quistorp descendants could not come to Szczecin, they sent letters. "Let this boulder become a cornerstone of inspiration, because even today, over 100 years later, our society needs people who work selflessly for the common good."

The project was implemented thanks to the financial support of the city of Szczecin. The association announced an update of the Quistorps' trail and further publications related to this story.
