Two carriageways of the S3 from Międzyzdroje to Wolin are now passable

Drivers can now use both carriageways of the S3 expressway from Międzyzdroje to Wolin, the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways announced on Friday. The change in traffic organization concerns a 12 km section, where traffic previously moved on a single carriageway in both directions.
On Friday, two lanes of traffic were opened in each direction on the section from Międzyzdroje to Wolin.
As reported by the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways, further changes to traffic organization are planned in the coming weeks, so that the entire 33-kilometer-long section of the S3 Świnoujście-Troszyn can be driven on two carriageways. The route is being built mostly along the single-carriageway DK3.
"A few weeks ago, traffic was redirected to the section from the Świnoujście junction, the connection with the tunnel under the Świna, to the Świnoujście Łunowo junction. This 4.5 km long section was the first to open up traffic on two carriageways," informed the General Directorate for National Roads and Motorways.
"Last week, traffic was redirected from the current DK3 to one carriageway of the new S3 on the section from the Świnoujście Łunowo junction to the Międzyzdroje junction. This enabled the liquidation of the temporary roundabout in the Międzyzdroje area, which significantly improved traffic flow," added GDDKiA.
On Friday, traffic was introduced on two carriageways from Międzyzdroje (entrance to the Wolin National Park) to the Wolin Zachód junction. The Dargobądz road junction and additional carriageways, which were built along the S6 to ensure local communication, were also fully opened.
On the section opened to traffic, the standard speed limit for an expressway is 120 km/h, except for the area of the Wolin National Park, where due to smaller curve radii (limited occupation of valuable natural areas) the speed is limited to 100 km/h.
As you inform GDDKiA, the full opening of the passage on two carriageways on the entire 33 km of this route still requires the completion of works in the Międzyzdroje area. The contractor is building a northern carriageway on a section of about 200 meters here and the connecting road of the Międzyzdroje junction on the Międzyzdroje-Świnoujście route, previously these works were blocked by a temporary roundabout. These works will take several more weeks.
"We expect the traffic on this section to be cleared in the second half of July. The second section where work is still underway on the main route is the Wolin-Troszyn section. Currently, traffic is moving along the northern carriageway of the new S3," GDDKiA informed.
The introduction of two-lane traffic is also planned for the turn of July and August.
