What's going on with the Gołębiewski Hotel in Pobierowo? Rumors are rife among the locals. Holding responds

The five-star Hotel Gołębiewski in Pobierowo is probably the most anticipated tourist facility on the entire Polish coast. In 2017, Tadeusz Gołębiewski purchased a 30-hectare plot of land located right by the beach for PLN 50 million, saving the budget of the catastrophically indebted Rewal commune with this purchase. It was already known then that a large hotel would be built there.

Construction began in 2018. The investor announced that it would be completed in 2020. From the very beginning, the scale of the work attracted crowds of curious people. From behind the fence, they watched as the largest hotel on the Polish coast was being built. Its vastness is simply breathtaking. The 11-storey white building, visible from a dozen or so kilometres away, houses 1,100 rooms for guests, most of which have a sea view. A significant part has an area of almost 60 square metres. Ultimately, it can accommodate 2,200 guests. They will not be bored. They will have a number of attractions at their disposal: swimming pools with slides, a SPA zone, theatre and cinema halls, a bowling alley, a disco and a sports complex with volleyball and basketball courts.

Construction is not lucky. The investment has been going on for five years

After the pandemic halted construction in 2020, everyone thought it was just a temporary hiatus. However, since then, the real fate has hung over the investment. The outbreak of war in Ukraine and the later death of Tadeusz Gołębiewski led to further delays.

After five years, it is clear that the investor is doing everything to finally welcome the first guests to the hotel. In early spring, when we asked about it, we learned that the hotel was planned to open this summer season. The recruitment of employees conducted on the websites seemed to confirm this information. However, the summer season has practically started, and the hotel is still closed.

Locals say it will open in September

A few days ago we decided to check if anything had changed around the hotel complex. The only change is the opening of the road that guests will use to enter the hotel in the future. The paved road, slightly overgrown because no one has used it for a long time, is separated by a metal mesh at the entrance to the hotel. Further on, all you can see is the famous palm tree, placed in the middle of the roundabout, which was supposed to welcome guests. Unfortunately, this exotic tree is also showing the passage of time. It no longer looks as beautiful as it did a few years ago, when it was dug in there.

From conversations with people working on the investment site, it appears that the facility may open in September. But no one is really sure about this date. Unofficially, local government officials from the Rewal commune also mention this date, although they immediately emphasize that this is not a confirmed date, but rather only passed on "by word of mouth".

In response to our questions, the Gołębiewski Holding communications department informed us that preparatory work is currently underway related to the opening of the Gołębiewski Hotel in Pobierowo, but it also asked for patience when it comes to the details of the investment.
