Frustration and a Hard Reset of Expectations: The New Reality in IT

Just a few years ago, it was synonymous with freedom, high earnings and market advantage. In 2025, the golden age of IT is rather a thing of the past. And everyday life is frustration and a hard reset of expectations - we read in Friday's edition of "Gazeta Wyborcza".
"Some have been looking for work for several months without success, others have to accept that the salary in the new company will be much lower than they earned before. But this is a new reality that IT workers have to slowly get used to," the newspaper writes.
"GW" points out that this is happening "despite the fact that this year's data is already showing a rebound". According to No Fluff Jobs - as reported by the newspaper - from the beginning of 2025 to March, the average number of applications per job ad was 29. "In 2024, it was an average of 44. This may suggest that the market is slowly getting back on track, and competitive pressure is decreasing," "GW" emphasizes.
And he adds that "although this is good news, the situation in IT could be summed up with the words: it used to be better". The newspaper points out that "market data is clear: salaries in IT have stopped growing".
"Although there have been no drastic reductions yet, companies are increasingly lowering the upper brackets, and the increases are symbolic. This is particularly true for juniors and mid-level specialists. Inflation is not helping, nor is the investors' savings policy," the daily points out. (PAP)
