Trump: I'm disappointed with both Russia and Ukraine

I am very disappointed in Russia, but also in Ukraine, because I think a deal could have been made, US President Donald Trump said on Thursday. However, he suggested that he would not stop trying to end the war between them.
“I’m very disappointed in Russia, but I’m also disappointed in Ukraine because I think a deal could have been made,” Trump said when asked by reporters at the White House about his efforts to end Russia’s war with Ukraine. Trump did not elaborate on his frustration with Kiev, though he has previously wryly commented that Ukrainian attacks on Russian bases gave Russia a reason to “bomb the f**k out of them.”
Trump expressed regret over the ongoing "carnage" in Ukraine, claiming that 5,000-6,000 soldiers are dying there per week.
"I think we will achieve it (ending the war), but I am disappointed that it has not been done yet," he added.
In another part of the conversation with reporters, Trump - speaking about the upcoming military parade in Washington and recalling the French celebrations of the end of World War II - marveled that "everyone hates Russia" while Germany and Japan "are fine."
"I talked to President Putin and let's be honest with him: he lost 51 million people (...) Isn't that interesting? He fought with us in World War II and everybody hates them, and Germany and Japan are fine. Someday someone will explain that. But Putin is a little surprised by it," Trump said, twice inflating the Soviet Union's war losses.
