The anarchy of Poland is progressing. A political scientist speaks out sharply about the current political scene.

- The First President of the Supreme Court admits that she is not a real judge, and the president would probably like to throw out the real ones from the profession.
- The president-elect wants to lead an anti-government crusade, the Speaker of the Sejm is ready to talk to everyone - even secretly, even at night.
- The Prime Minister is supposed to clean up the government; but it is still unclear when.
- The Law and Justice party chairman thanks members of the Border Defense Movement. And is he encouraging violence?
After the presidential election, emotions continued to run high. First President of the Supreme Court, Małgorzata Manowska, asked a rhetorical question in an interview: "Am I interested in someone becoming president who says I'm not a judge?"
In this way she admitted that she was not an independent judge and certainly not a judge guided by the public good.
Prof. Danuta Plecka claims that this is the result of the United Right government tying a Gordian knot around the judiciary and the idea of the rule of law.
Added to this are the controversial words of President Andrzej Duda, who is about to leave office, who wants to throw judges out of office. Commenting on judges, the president said, among other things, that "it's been a long time since anyone was hanged for treason in Poland."
Professor Plecka admits that it's difficult for her to comment on these words, as they fall outside the bounds of public discourse.
Karol Nawrocki at the head of the crusadeThe parliamentary opposition, the Law and Justice party (PiS), wants to overthrow the government, dissolve the Sejm, and regain power. Which is perfectly normal; after all, we still have a democracy. But is it also normal that the new President of the Republic is preparing to lead this holy crusade?
"No. This is not normal," says Professor Plecka, pointing out that, according to the Constitution, the president's primary task is to be the head of state and represent all Poles, not to take sides in a political dispute.
"He should be a mediator in conflict situations. Meanwhile, Karol Nawrocki made no secret of the fact that the primary goal of his presidency would be to destroy Donald Tusk's government. Because that was the task assigned to him by the Law and Justice party chairman," says our interlocutor.

The political scene is also heating up over the government reshuffle, which has been delayed once again. While the Prime Minister is talking about a government reshuffle and coalition consolidation, Szymon Hołownia is causing a stir by meeting secretly with PiS politicians at night.
"I apologize for this phrasing, as I shouldn't have spoken like that about another person in the country, but Szymon Hołownia behaved like a useful idiot. I'm convinced he was discussed with a technical government and tempted by the prime minister's portfolio," comments Professor Danuta Plecka.
The question of the day is: how new will Donald Tusk's new government be?
Professor Plecka expects the reconstructed cabinet to finally become the driving force behind the changes. Meanwhile, information from within the government suggests that its reconstruction will primarily involve eliminating ministers without portfolio and plenipotentiaries. In other words, much noise, little results.
Militias near the German borderRobert Bąkiewicz also returned to the political scene, leading self-proclaimed militias stationed at border crossings, documenting allegedly illegal migration.
"The actions of Bąkiewicz and his militias are illegal," emphasizes Professor Danuta Plecka. Did the state react appropriately by closing the border? In her opinion, no. It was merely a political reflex by the prime minister, who hoped that a rightward turn would weaken Jarosław Kaczyński and the Confederation. Nothing could be further from the truth! It will only win voters for PiS and the Confederation," says Professor Plecka.

Jarosław Kaczyński thanked members of the Border Defense Movement. It was a strange thank you, though: the PiS leader first expressed his appreciation, saying they were defending the borders "with their own hands," and then added: "Perhaps the time will come when we will have to take something into our hands..."
"Why isn't the state reacting to Jarosław Kaczyński's words? He's inciting hatred! If he'd said, 'It might happen that a war breaks out and then we'll have to take action,' I would have understood," explains Professor Plecka. "But he didn't say that. Instead, he said, 'Listen, you're doing a great job at the border, and if necessary, hit that immigrant...'"
As a further note, in 2023, Robert Bąkiewicz was sentenced to one year of restricted liberty for violating the bodily integrity of activist "Grandma Kasia." The then-Prosecutor General then filed a motion to the President for a pardon and suspended the sentence. For a year and a half, the President made no decision on this matter. On July 10, 2025, Adam Bodnar lifted the suspension. On July 15, Andrzej Duda pardoned Robert Bąkiewicz.
"We should all take responsibility for our common future," the professor concludes. "First and foremost, there is no democracy without an active, thoughtful citizenry..."
