Grbić's honest statement. This will determine his World Cup selections.

Grbić's honest statement. This will determine his World Cup selections.

There are still a few weeks left until this year's World Cup in the Philippines. Grbić is currently closely monitoring the Polish squad so he can soon select 14 players for the World Cup. The Serb revealed what the biggest challenge is and what factor could prove decisive in the selection process.

"After every training session, I have feedback, a lot of data, and in that sense, I thought I now knew who I could count on. Of course, it's still too early for me to select 14 players. The biggest problem is health, because at our level, every player has to be healthy and at 100 percent to be ready for the training we all need every day. We have to be prepared because there could be a quarterfinal, a day off, a semifinal, and the final—three very difficult matches in four days, and one player has to play every match. That's why we have to prepare every player to be ready to play that many matches. That's why we're monitoring the health situation, and in the end, it could be the deciding factor who makes the list. It's still too early," Grbić said in an interview with Tomasz Lach from Polsat Sport.

Before the Olympic runners-up compete in the World Championships, they still have to compete in the Nations League. The first of two will take place soon in Gdańsk. The Poles will enter this tournament without any pressure, as they are already assured of a place in the final tournament in Ningbo, China.

"For me, the most important thing is to prepare the players for the final tournament. The fact that we're playing in Poland is, of course, important for the fans and sponsors, and that we're here. But for me as a coach, it's important that we continue this preparation process and that those players who haven't played before are starting to play. I think they've been training very well and are motivated to play. At the end of the day, we're here to help them play their volleyball, so I think they'll be ready. They don't need ten matches to be in shape. I think we'll be ready for the tournament in China, and we'll use the tournament in Gdańsk to prepare for it even better," admitted Grbić.
